James Schaeffer

James Schaeffer is a reporter for 8 News Now and is a born and raised Hendersonian. Attending Lake Mead Christian Academy and Foothill High School, working as the student news director for Foothill Student Television. Schaeffer attended the Greenspun School of Journalism and Media Studies at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, and started his career at the Las Vegas Review-Journal. 

He reported the night of Oct. 1 interviewing attendees and security working the Route 91 concert, obtaining his first Pacific Southwest Emmy in the process for his story on people escaping the mass shooting event. Schaeffer worked as a multimedia journalist and digital anchor at the Las Vegas Review-Journal for four years. While at the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Schaeffer reported in the aftermath of the stabbing death of investigative reporter Jeff German, embedded with truckers during a cross-country convoy to Washington D.C. and reported from the U.S. Capitol rotunda during Harry Reid’s memorial service.
