Much has been made about the Las Vegas Raiders' looming decision regarding their head coaching position.

Those closest to the situation, the players, have spent the second half of the season expressing who they feel would be best for the job, and that is Interim Coach Antonio Pierce.

"Yeah, I mean, he's obviously who I want, that's my vote, and I've been vocal about that," All-Pro wide receiver Davante Adams said.

"That's basically how the whole locker room feels, and with good reason. I mean, he's come in and done a great job, and he's continued to win us over. It's not just the comfortable thing.

"Having AP [Antonio Pierce] here will be a big deal for this organization. He kind of embodies what it means to be a Raider, and that mentality, that swag, and all the things that he endorses are the things that I believe in.

"It's easy for a guy like me, especially having dealt with him a little bit this year now and gotten to know him and see his evolution in front of the team and all those things, all the different feels of being the head coach. So, I'm definitely rooting for him."

Like many other players, Adams feels that Pierce's playing experience allows him to connect with players on a different level than most coaches.

"Just that experience -- like I said before a bunch of times -- having played, understanding where we come from to be able to give a good assessment of the game as far as our effort, whatever it is," Adams said.

"Sometimes it's hard to really know if you don't -- I can't tell you how hard a dog is going because I don't know what it feels like to be a dog -- well, my version of being a dog, but now an actual dog.

"So it's hard to say that dog is not going hard enough. You don't know if that dog is tired or whatever the case is. So, having played, you understand that part of it, and he just has a realistic approach and mindset of how the game is supposed to be played, and what he expects from his players, and it's easy to get behind that."

As one of the team's leaders, Adams is expected to converse with the front office about what is best for the team as the Raiders move forward.

Even so, Adams heads into the offseason with no expectations for what the future holds for the Raiders' head coaching decision.

"I mean, we'll have conversations obviously, the same as what we did before," Adams said. "We'll continue to try to figure out what's best for the team. I don't have any expectations, but we'll see what happens."

No one knows who owner Mark Davis will decide to hire as the next head coach of the Raiders.

The players, however, have continued to support Pierce vocally and with their play on the field. Davis says he values the opinions of his players. Time will tell if that is the case.

The Silver and Black finish the 2023 NFL Regular season this weekend at home by hosting their AFC West rival, the Denver Broncos.
